The past week has been quite a whirlwind with the semester finishing up, plus me packing and moving back home. But now that I’m finally home and settled, I have time to write and happily announce that I have reached my fundraising goal of $4,500 for young adults with cancer!!!
Thanks to a very generous donation from my parents, I was able to make it to $4,500 and am now working to far surpass that number. Just because I’ve met my goal does not mean that I’m stopping; I want to exceed it as far as possible! The more money I can raise, the more money there is to go towards supporting the lives of young adults with cancer across the country. There is still time to make a donation on my page if you haven’t been able to yet and would like to contribute to it!
In other news, I have been Skyping with all 10 members of our leadership team. Our leadership team for 4K includes the two directors (myself and Alex), along with 6 leg leaders (2 leg leaders per each of the 3 legs), a PR coordinator, a service coordinator and 2 trainers. Together, this leadership team will be making this summer trip possible, and I can’t thank them enough for stepping up and applying to take on these positions.
It’s been really cool to Skype with them and get to know them better. I love seeing where everyone is from, what they’re studying and what they want to do in life. We have the coolest runners on our team; it just makes me even more excited to get this summer started.
Alex and I have also started a competition in our team to encourage people to be running! We split the team up into 3 smaller teams and we’re having a mileage race to see which team can run the most miles during the month of May. Everyone logs their miles they run each day on a spreadsheet so we can see where the teams are at all times. So far, it’s been pretty exciting! We’ve definitely got a lot of long distance runners on the team!
Now that I’m home for the first part of the summer, it makes me realize just how close 4K is. Our run leaves on June 15 and it’s already May 5…time has flown by. Before I know it, I’ll be boarding a plane to San Francisco with my parents and my huge duffle bag of summer supplies. It’s crazy to think that it’s coming up so quickly. Until then, I’m going to keep running and keep fundraising. Thanks for reading!
xoxo,
Natalie
